The Tropics Motor Hotel and Restaurant in Modesto, California, opened in 1961 as part of a small chain of Polynesian-themed motels. Located at 936 McHenry Avenue, it featured 61 deluxe rooms, a Sambo’s restaurant, and a cocktail lounge, all wrapped in breezy mid-century tropical flair. Four hand-carved tiki statues by Ed Crissman stood watch over the property, enhancing its exotic roadside charm. While there’s no evidence it housed an official tiki bar, the whole place radiated island vibes—and that’s good enough for us. This design is part of our vintage retro collection, celebrating the defunct golden era tiki bars and tropical-themed motor hotels of yesteryear. Printed on our warm & cozy heavyweight unisex sweatshirt. We print & ship all of our high quality graphic sweatshirts in the USA.
