The Pago Pago was a celebrated tiki bar and restaurant situated at 131 East First Street in downtown Long Beach, California. Opened in March 1943, it stood as a beacon of Polynesian-inspired escapism during the golden age of tiki culture. The establishment featured immersive tropical décor, including bamboo accents and exotic motifs, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of the South Pacific. Its popularity led to the opening of a second location in Palm Springs in 1945, though that venue was short-lived. Despite its eventual closure, the original Pago Pago remains a cherished memory among tiki enthusiasts and a testament to Long Beach’s vibrant mid-century nightlife.
