The Marshall Comets were a short-lived minor league baseball team that played in the Class C Lone Star League in 1947. Representing Marshall, Texas, they put together a strong season, finishing with a winning record and making a deep playoff run. Like many post-war minor league teams, the Comets were part of the baseball boom that brought professional teams to smaller towns across the country. Despite their competitive play, the team folded when the Lone Star League disbanded in 1948, ending their brief but exciting run in Texas baseball history.
