The Cleveland Spiders were a professional baseball team that played from 1889 to 1899. Based in Cleveland, Ohio, they were an early force in the league, known for standout players like Hall of Fame pitcher Cy Young. The team peaked in the mid-1890s, but their fate turned tragic in 1899 when ownership shifted top players to another team they controlled—the St. Louis Perfectos—leaving the Spiders with a gutted roster. They finished that season with a shocking 20–134 record and were disbanded shortly after. This design is part of our retro baseball collection, inspired by the defunct baseball teams of yesteryear.
