The Mint Hotel & Casino opened in 1957 at 100 Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas and quickly became a standout for its sleek modern design and towering 26-story hotel addition in 1965. Its bright neon signage and star-topped pylon made it a Fremont Street icon, and it gained pop culture fame in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The Mint was merged into Binion’s Horseshoe in 1988, marking the end of its independent legacy.
