The Thunderbird Hotel and Casino, which opened on September 2, 1948, was the fourth resort on the Las Vegas Strip. Its distinctive Native American theme featured traditional décor and a prominent thunderbird emblem atop its tower. In 1952, due to high demand, the Thunderbird expanded by adding the Algiers Hotel to accommodate overflow guests. Over the years, the property underwent several ownership changes and rebrandings, eventually closing in 1992. The site remained vacant until its demolition in 2000.
